Thanks to John McKay (Anchorage, Alaska) for providing the background and foreground for who these women were–the Hearons sisters, as in “The Hearons Sisters Concert Company”. They were evidently quite an attraction, performing coast-to-coast, with a European tour, as well.  I assume that they performed popular songs, as there seems to be no mention of the sort of music they played.  See the University of Iowa (here) for more details.

“The woman on the left is actually playing a double necked “harp guitar,” an instrument that was popular in America during the time of the First World War. People could pluck out bass notes on the “harp” half while simultaneously strumming a melody on the guitar half.”–Christinablack.com
