This Carter’s underwear ad from LIFE magazine (1950) makes a weird pronouncement—it is behavior and body language that was evidently  entirely appropriate for the time, that there was nothing amiss or untoward or askance or unusual in the position or the glances of the two models.  Now, today, the whole scene is at least unsettling, squirmy.
