[Alexander Graham Bell and the Telephone]
Thompson, Sylvanus P. (signed "S.P.T.") "Graham Bell's Experiments in Binaural Audition", in Nature, October 21,1880, pp 586-587, with illustration, in the weekly issue of pp 571-600. Also with a lovely full-page etching of Richard Owen to illustrate a short biography of him to lead the issue. Original (and longer) article appeared earlier in the year in Am. J. Otol. (1880, 2, 169–179.) He concluded that “the direction of a source of sound is less perfect by a single ear than by both ears". See: “Early Studies of Binocular and Binaural Directions” Nicholas J. Wade, in “Vision”, February 22, 2018
