Bernard, Claude. “Sur une Nouvelle Fonction du foir chez”, in Comptes Rendus Hebdomadaires des Seances de l'Academie des Sciences, volume 31, 1850, occupying pp 571-575 in the weekly issue. This is a great paper on the liver and a classic in experimental medicine, with Bernard ( 1813-1878) widely recognized as one of the founders of this approach to medicine and research. Condition: extracted from a larger bound volume, offered with the original wrappers (disbound). Harrison Horblit, One Hundred Books... finds this "a remarkable exposition of the glycogenic function of the liver", this being a great series of experiments establishing metabolism. This is his second paper on the topic, following the first in Archive Generale du Medicin (1848), "De l"origine du sucre dans l"economie animal: du suc pancréatique et de son rôle dans les phénomènes de la digestion”. Dibner 131. Horblit 11a. $650
