"Samuel Moses ("Moe") Hurwitz (1910 – 1944). Born and raised in Montreal, Hurwitz was the most highly decorated non-commissioned member of the Canadian Grenadier Guards, earning the Military Medal in August of 1944, and the Distinguished Conduct Medal just six weeks later. In October 1944, following an attack in the Netherlands, Hurwitz was captured by the Germans, and died of his wounds as a prisoner of war."--via newswire.ca
